General
Care for your Burmese or Birman Cat |
|
Food
Your kitten has been
eating from this range: raw meat, cooked boned fish, chicken, a variety
of tinned foods and Dried Biskets (obtained from the vet). Always ensure
that food is given to your kitten at room temperature rather than straight
out of the fridge ( which may mean a quick zap in the microwave). Chicken
necks are also good for their teeth.
|
|
Liquids
Give your kitten fresh
water at all times. You can also try milk with egg yolk (not whites) mixed
at the ratio of 1 yolk to 1 cup of milk. Be careful, as milk given on
a regular basis can result in loose motions.

Vaccinations
and Worming Programme
Please check your
kittens vaccination certificate as this willtell you when your next vaccination
is due and when worming is due. Your kitten has been wormed every 2 weeks
and will be due to be wormed again at 12 weeks. After 12 weeks itshould
be done every 3 months. I use DRONTAL ALL WORMING TABLETS. Just half a
tablet will do at this stage.
|
|
Fleas
I use a fine steel
flea comb which can be purchased from yourvet. There are very good products
on the market now for fleas including; Frontline and Advantage.
|
|
Spaying/neutering
Your de-sexing contract
states the date this needs to be completed by. On return of this contract
I will forward a pedigree and will transfer your kitten into your name
with the NZ CAT FANCY.
|
|
Litter
Trays
Your kitten has been
trained to use kitten litter. You will always need to have a litter tray
as Burmese cats should not be let out after dark for their safety. Even
the vet will tell you to keep your cat in after dark. As they fight at
night and can contract diseases and abscesses plus most cats that are
run over, are run over during the night.
|
|
Claws
I cut front claws
every two weeks and back ones as they need it. Toe nail clippers work
well.

|
Re-Homing
If your circumstances
change I would appreciate it if you would contact me and involve me with
the re-homing of your Burmese
|
|
Boarding
Burmese don't take
well to being left at home by themselves, even if a neighbour is feeding
them. I can look after your cat for you I have a number of nice spacious
runs to meet with their needs.
